Gregor McKendrick, M.D., F.A.C.C., received his medical degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1973, and immigrated to the United States in 1975. He completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology Fellowship training at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan, graduating from the Internal Medicine Residency in 1978 and Cardiac Fellowship in 1981.

He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

He maintains active staff privileges at St. John Providence Hospital, Southfield, St. John Providence Park Hospital, Novi, St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Livonia and William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

Since 1982, Dr. McKendrick has participated in the teaching of Wayne State University Medical Students, Providence Hospital Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Cardiology Fellowship House Staff. He was honored twice as Teacher of the Year. He is also an educational speaker for Merck, Pfizer and Novartis Pharmaceutical Companies.

Dr. McKendrick is the practice’s Director of the Lipid and Coumadin Clinics in addition to serving on the Blue Cross Credentialing Committee. He has also served in many capacities at Providence Hospital, including Medical Staff Executive Treasurer; Chairman of the Interventional, Utilization, Medical Records, and Critical Care Committees; member of the Risk Management and Clinical Care Committees; and Administration Director of the Coronary Care Unit. As an instructor in physical diagnosis, cardiology and paramedics, Dr. McKendrick has received teaching awards from Providence Hospital’s Department of Medicine, and he was awarded ‘Teacher of the Year’ by the Family Practice Program.

Dr. McKendrick founded Consultants in Cardiology, P.C. in 1982 and was instrumental in implementing the Electronic Medical Record at Consultants in Cardiology.

Dr. McKendrick’s areas of interest include Preventative Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, Dyslipidemias (cholesterol management), and Hypertension.
